Renewal living

Finding chi

A fresh start was needed for this client. We began with her bedroom. Making a warm haven for her with a dark aubergine wall color. Calming the space with white velvet headboard and linen duvet. A graphic element includes the black reading lamps. The Advaita pillow I made for her bed translates to “meditative practice.”

We added a comfy, interesting Anthropologie chair from her previous home. I love the contrasting piping and random fabric swatches. A modern floor lamp keeps it clean and the curve, a feminine touch.

We added the Channing Dresser is the closet nook from Jonathan Adler. I love its acrylic knobs. The wire lamp is from Arteriors home.

Soft velvet aubergine curtains from The Shade Store were added to soften the space. Milano Chandelier from Jonathan Adler tips the glam up a notch and continues the feminine curves and acrylic touches.

The client found this acrylic legged bench to finish the room. I love how my clients can start to think for themselves when it comes to designing their space. I really try to educate them on how design works. If you start with a few consistent ideas, those can be sustained throughout the room and the house. It’s just practice!

In the young girls room, we carried the purple over with the wall color and the garlands of hearts from Paper Dot Co on Etsy. Plus adding the complimentary color of girly hot pink.

We painted an old chest with chalkboard paint now she can write on it to remind her where to put away her things.

Shadow puppet wallpaper on one wall brings some personality to the room. Pink lamp from Land of Nod adds a great pop of pink. Wood tiled night stand from Westelm holds books and treasures.

Shell chandelier adds some whimsy and reflections.

View from the top bunk. Pink pouf from Etsy, Ring around the ribbon rug (no longer in purple) and the Bazaar quilt from Land of Nod tuck nicely into the room.

A 2nd floor playroom holds entertainment and seating for friends and family. Unniko Fatboy from Marimekko for lounging, the modern Componibili storage for hiding remotes and the Aspens tree mural adds a great outdoors touch and texture.

In the living room, a check chair from Room and Board. Jonathan Adler vintage pillows and the white African Bamileke stool give the room a graphic punch. Felt jumbo stones from Viva Terra add that much needed texture and over scale playfulness.. The Sabine Floor lamp from Arteriors Home adds a touch of gold.

The Shade Store Dwell Studio Oversize Stripe shades in Jet adds more personality to the room. Ferm living pillow on the sofa.

A buffet with gold and mirror accents adds some shine to the neutral space. The lamps from Arteriors Home help balance the metals and another Allison Stewart painting brings some color and life to the room.

The study is warm and textural with the Egg chair taking full command. The Clint cocktail table from Arteriors home and white stripe side table add to the charm of this room.

The Dallas Chandelier in the dining room is big and bold. The Chelsea small reflective sconces accent and balance the round bulbs of the chandie. Painting by local artist Allison Stewart.

In the entry, the Maxim Chandeliers chain and beaded look gives a nod to carnival time. And makes quite a statement.

The kitchen was the most recent change to this house. It was a full renovation. The cabinets are from Singer Kitchens. Hayleigh gold hanging lights from Rejuvenation Hardware. Custom island and stools from Arteriors home.

Quartz countertops and backsplash give the kitchen a clean, seamless look. The wooden stove hood was custom made.

The Hafele tambour was custom made to fit the space, too. It hides appliances and the coffee station.

The shelves over the sink finish the triangle of wood accents in the kitchen. All plumbing fixtures and quartz from Triton Stone.

View into the living room from the island seating got quieter with custom door fronts on the storage unit. It continues the zen feeling of house.
